What Maslowe meant by the pyramid was that one could not progress to the next level, without more or less realizing the levels below. I don't know why, but ever since I learned of this in psychology class it has never left me. I often reflect on my own life, and wonder if I'll ever make it to the top. It's nothing more than a barometer. Although, I would agree we could reorder some of the requirements.
